Who is responsible

What the extension does in your browser

The extension runs in your browser. On most websites it does nothing: it only checks whether a page is a sportsbook, and keeps nothing until it is one. On a sportsbook page it notices when you place a bet and records that bet, using what the page shows you and the bookmaker's own confirmation.

It never places, changes or cancels bets, never signs in to a bookmaker for you, and never reads what you do on other sites.

What leaves your browser, and when

Each bet, as soon as the bookmaker accepts it: the bookmaker's name, its bet number, the time, your stake, the odds, the possible return and the selections. With it, the bookmaker's own confirmation of that bet. A confirmation can carry things that are not the bet, such as a session token or your name; those are stripped inside your browser before anything is sent, so they never reach us.

The text of the bet slip and of the confirmation as they appeared on your screen, so the bet can be read accurately: which selections, which odds, which total. Amounts that are account money rather than the bet, such as a balance, are left out inside your browser. We do not store balances.

Short samples of the bookmaker's data around a bet, stripped the same way inside your browser, when a bet could not be read in full. We use these only to make bets read correctly, for everyone.

If you link the Telegram bot: the screenshots you send it, the text of your messages to it, and the id of your Telegram chat, so the bot can answer you.

What stays on your computer

For a short time, the bookmaker page's recent responses, so team and market names can be filled in. They are not sent anywhere.

If you turn on "Keep page snapshots" in the extension, copies of the slip as shown on your screen are kept on your computer until you delete them. They leave it only if you download and share them yourself.

What we do not collect

Your bookmaker balance, deposits, withdrawals, payment methods or passwords. Your browsing outside sportsbook pages. Your bookmaker login. The extension leaves account money out.

Why we use it

To keep your ledger and show your results. To read each bet accurately. To improve how bets are read, from the samples above. To run your account, sign you in and answer you. To bill you, once paid plans exist.

The legal basis is our agreement with you for keeping the ledger, reading bets and running your account; our legitimate interest in an accurate product for improving the reading, which you may object to; and your consent for the Telegram bot, which you give by linking it and withdraw by unlinking it.

Who else processes it

Service providers who work for us under contract and may not use the data for their own purposes: hosting; the database and sign-in service; email delivery; and automated text-reading services that turn slip text into a bet record. Some of these are in the United States; transfers rest on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

We do not sell data, share it with bookmakers or share it with advertisers. We disclose it only where the law requires.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. A bet you delete is removed at once. Samples used to improve reading are kept for at most twelve months. When you delete your account, everything is deleted within 30 days, and backups roll off within a further 30 days.

Your rights and your controls

You can see, correct, export and delete your data, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to the Data Protection Ombudsman of Finland.

In the ledger you can delete any bet, clear the extension's local copies from its popup, unlink the Telegram bot and sign out. You can delete your whole account yourself in Settings. Export is in Settings on the Pro plan; everyone else gets it on request at privacy@placed.bet.

Cookies

Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies on placed.bet.

Age

Placed is for adults who bet legally where they live. It is not for anyone under 18.

Changes

When this page changes, the date above changes with it. A change that matters to you is announced in the app.
